New sponsorship will provide funding, promotional resources, and data from FBref.com, Sports Reference's newest collection of data for world football including the Women's World Cup
NEW YORK, NY June 6, 2019 – SheIS announced today that Sports Reference will sponsor it’s latest campaign, Through the Eyes of a Fan: Calli Goes to France, which will see a fan explore and share her experiences on the ground at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup from June 7 - July 7.
The campaign will serve as the final major pulse point in the larger campaign, the #SheISChallenge, that SheIS launched in January. The Challenge, which has reached more than 265M people since its launch, is a call to action to sports fans to show their support for women’s sports by watching and attending games.
The fan is Toronto-native, Calli Mingopoulos. In addition to being an avid fan of women’s soccer and hockey, Mingopoulos plays soccer and volleyball. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BA in Architecture and currently works for an architecture firm in Toronto.
“The Challenge has asked fans to watch and attend women’s sports, so what better way to highlight that message in action than through the eyes of a fan?” said SheIS Co-founder and CMO, Caiti Donovan. “We are thrilled to partner with Sports Reference to deepen Calli’s experience in France with a data-driven storytelling approach.”
The campaign will include a series of video and photo content, collected by Calli as she attends a number of Women’s World Cup games, watches games from Fan Zones around France, and generally captures everything she’s witnessing during one of the largest women’s sporting events of the year. Some of the content includes:
Live video from the Opener on June 7: France vs South Korea
Photos/videos from Fan Zones around France
Photos/videos from the game on June 15 - Canada v New Zealand in Grenoble
Photos/videos from the game: June 20 - Canada v Netherlands in Reims
Live video from the Quarter Finals, both Semi-Final games (July 2-3 in Lyon), and the Final on July 7 in Lyon
